Cheverly Community Center and Police Station
Because of the success of our other projects, the Town of Cheverly asked CNPP to help with the planting around a number of key points of the town center and police station. In March 2022, we replaced all the invasive nandina in the raised beds surrounding the community center with native winterberries, foam flowers, rosy sedges, and wild geraniums. In front of the Cheverly Community Center low wall-sign in the median, we planted an array of short natives that will bloom from early spring to fall. In front of the police station, we added a rain garden and a formal hedgerow of fragrant sumacs. The garden beds in front of the low sign and police station have won The Prince George’s County Beautification Award for entrances and community spaces numerous times.
